She found me & I’m so happy!

I recently connected with a very special friend from about 20 years ago. She found me on Facebook and for that I’m so grateful and happy.  (This is the second time this has happened and for this I love FB!) After a few email exchanges, we decided on a date to meet up.  She didn’t tell me, but the day we decided on was her birthday. I was so excited to see my dear friend and now it’s her birthday too, so many emotions! When we saw each other, for me it was as time did not pass. We hugged, we cried, I honestly just wanted to stare at her, has it really been 20+ years, how can that be?

And I did feel like I was staring, mesmerized by her spirit and beauty.  A soul full of love, joy and curiosity.  We now follow each other on every social media site imaginable, I feel as though we are connected in many ways. Even though we had not seen or spoken in so long, I thought about her often. There was always a good story to tell and a fond memory that would make me smile. I can’t wait to spend more time with my beautiful friend Gabriela (I knew her as Gabby) and meet the wonderful man in her life that makes her so happy.

I took this picture of a gorgeous sunset last Saturday night when my husband I and were going out for the evening.  I instantly thought of Gabby. She takes pictures of sunsets and posts them to Facebook daily.  On her blog she writes  “Well, i don’t know about you all but, for me the sunset is a very special time.  Jeff knows where ever we are he will stop and let me gaze upon her as she sets.  It’s something that i have always stopped and enjoyed.”  She goes on to say… “some are more colorful that others but, to me they all are just breathtaking.”

Her latest blog post is of 12 sunsets, one per month of 2011 with the last one being from 12/31/11, the last sunset of the year. I think these photographs give us a little bit of glimpse into her soul, her beauty and how she sees her world.  Thank you Gabriela for your vision.

I encourage you to check out Gabriela’s In Your Bones Facebook page and Etsy store where you will find vintage and handmade items by Gabriela like drink sleeves, gorgeous fabric bunting, embroidered items and more. I’m enjoying a beautiful scarf and a fun embroidered towel for our tiki bar from her shop.
